WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO START WORK
The following items are needed to commence employment in Australia. If you do not have these items when you arrive at the AG Workforce office, we will be more than happy to assist you in obtaining them. Towards the bottom of this page there is a PDF file for you to print a copy of this list.
1. Tax File Number
In order to work in Australia you will need an Australian Tax File Number. Taxes are paid on all of your earnings, which are collected by us and submitted to the Australian Taxation Office. If you do not have a Tax File Number you will be taxed at the highest rate. A Tax File Number is easily obtained from the Australian Taxation Office. For more information please look at their website www.ato.gov.au.
2. An Australian Bank Account
This includes the name of the Australian bank you have an account with as well as your Bank State Branch number (BSB) and account number. This account will be used to process your pay so you must have an Australian bank account.
3. Superannuation details
Superannuation is like a retirement or pension fund. In Australia it is compulsory for your employer to pay 9% on top of your gross wage into a fund for you. International Jobseekers can claim back their superannuation once they return to their home country. If you already have a superannuation fund be sure to bring the details with you to your AG Workforce induction. If you do not have a superannuation fund then we are happy to help you set one up at your induction.
4. Drivers Licence
If you have a drivers licence you should bring it with you. This includes any overseas licences or any Australian licence.
5. Your Valid Passport (International Jobseekers Only)
This is required for all international jobseekers. This is not necessary for Australian jobseekers.
6. Your Valid Work Visa (International Jobseekers Only)
In order to work in Australia, it is compulsory that you hold a valid passport and an Australian Working Visa. You will need to get your Working Visa prior to arriving in Australia. You can contact the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs for more information about working visas. Their website can be found at www.immi.gov.au.
7. Optional - Telstra Next G SIM Card
We reccomend that you get a Telstra Next G SIM card for your mobile phone as this service has the best coverage across Australia. Having a mobile will be a big asset when working in Australia as it is the easiest way for us to stay in contact with you.
