1. Kate

2IC, Head Stockman, Overseer

, ,

NT, QLD, WA

Full-Time

Reading Kate’s resume, you can follow her career that started in NSW as a Stud Groom and Vet Assistant straight out of school before she went north onto stations throughout the NT & WA. Typical of the industry in that part of the country, Kate worked season to season across the length and width of Northern Australia in various capacities from Station Hand to Station Cook. During the wet season, she worked a variety of short-term roles in hospitality and aged care, showing her versatility and willingness to do what needed to be done. Over her career, Kate has also worked as a Stable Hand, Jillaroo, Camp Cook, mine worker, Barmaid, in aged care, as a Liaison Officer, in feedlots, on stations and orchards and in service industries. Rest assured, this woman knows how to work hard.

When her family came along and needed to go to school, Kate put her love for big cattle camps and wide open spaces on hold and moved to town, where she worked for over ten years in the local Woolies while her kids finished their schooling. When she could get away, she kept her eye in by working with a mustering contractor on and off over the years. As soon as she was able, Kate eased back into rural life by taking work with Resource Management Groups as a Liaison Officer before working as a Supervisor on an orchard.

The wide open spaces, the bellowing of cattle camps, wide rivers, good horses and a cold beer with great company are calling Kate back to the Northern Grazing Industry. Kate is work fit, so she could run rings around many people half her age and has the experience to work smarter, not harder. As a jack of all trades with many tricks in her toolbox, including leadership, staff management and administration skills, Kate would be a running start no matter where she goes. Her only condition is that she has to work above the Tropic of Capricorn. I must admit that I am slightly biased when I come across a kindred spirit, and I respect her grit in grinding it out. Kate is the epitome of hard work and sacrifices made for her family. We would love to place her somewhere that reconnects her with her first true love: cattle work in the Top End.
